Could be cleaner and couldn’t work the tap in bathroom. It would have been helpful if we’d been told on checkin that you need to turn it on under the sink

First : the price is too expensive for where and what is it ! He’s asking too much fees in plus (and the price first is too expensive for the localisation and the offer) We arrived at 9pm by train and the room was not ready … the owner didn’t went to see us If you want food you need to go next to the train station, there is no choice, one little restaurant the owner is kind but the food is not good.For the price they should include breakfast, but no you need to pay 750 rupees for toast/eggs/jam/coffee. The bathroom is very humid, old and rudimentary

Location is perfect. You can walk the Anawilundawa area easily. I liked the remote feel. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was very good but not included in the price.

Two things: this was the only hotel in Sri Lanka that wanted to keep and lock my passport which just wasn't going to happen. Also, when I got up in the morning to birdwatch at 5:30am, the door to the foyer/reception area connected to my room was locked FROM THE OUTSIDE. I was quite literally trapped inside. In no place ever in my life have I been locked in from the outside which was extremely disconcerting. Luckily, the door is old and wobbly and I was able to shimmy it open. Ask about this before you go to bed.

Great location for bird watchers. Staff very welcoming as they had no record of our booking. Cooked a great evening meal for us. Lovely people.

The location is amazing. The bird reserve is yards away and very easy to explore. The staff were lovely. The food they prepared was good.

It’s very basic with small rooms and at the time of our visit no aircon ( though box on wall) - we did not sleep particularly well. The bathroom could do with some upgrading. Our room had no chairs or area to sit out - though staff helpfully pulled some wooden ones from dining area.

We had an excellent experience at this place! The host was incredibly communicative and kind, always ready to assist. There was a delicious dinner prepared by the host. In the morning, he arranged bikes for us to explore the area, which turned out to be the perfect way to start the day. The room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this stay!
